Our "mots de la semaine" (spelling words) are written in our agendas. For electronic reference, this week, they are:
1. le printemps
2. aller
3. je vais
4. tu vas
5. il va
6. elle va
7. nous allons
8. vous allez
9. ils vont
10. elles vont
11. parce que
12. utiliser
13. je pose
14. quelqu'un
15. quelque chose
You'll notice that there are now 15 words/phrases. We are introducing proper conjugation of the "er" verb group, i.e. manger, danser, parler as well as the important verbs: avoir, etre, faire and aller (this week).
If your son/daughter comes home and says, "I have no homework!" - here are some ways to help your child reinforce what is being explored at school, your child can:
-practice the spelling words for the week
-read books for their reading journal
-finish writing the sentences for the week in the blue/green notebook
-practice multiplication tables up to 5 by using counters, drawings and explanations
e.g. 5 x 5 is 25 because it is 5 groups of 5 or 5 + 5+ 5+ 5+ 5
-practice division tables up to 5 by using counters, drawings and explanations
e.g. 24 / 6 is 4 because it is 24 shared in 6 groups of 4 or 24-6-6-6-6
-look at simple machines around the house and recognize a lever, a wedge, a wheel, a pulley or a gear (our science focus)
-find ways to conserve energy around the house and at school (our science/social studies focus)
-create a news report of what happened at school by dramatizing an anchor's desk and script (our language focus: informational text and report writing)
Hope this helps!
