Bienvenue!
Bienvenue and Welcome Back to School!
Welcome to Grade 4/5 French Immersion! I hope everyone has enjoyed a restful summer vacation. I am looking forward to a successful school year full of learning and laughing.
Some general information to get us going:
-School begins at 8:40 am. Please be on time. I will be outside, ready to greet you and your child. Please check in with me as I would be happy to meet with you or to see a familiar face.
-School ends at 3:15 pm. Again, please be on time to pick up your children.
The students are expected to bring two HEALTHY snacks and a lunch to school every day, unless they are going home for lunch. Students in the junior grades are a growing bunch, please make sure to send enough HEALTHY food for them for the entire day. Please be advised we are a NUT-FREE school.
This blog is one of many parent communication tools I will use this school year in addition to your child's agenda, email and telephone. If you need to reach me, please do so in your child's agenda as they are checked daily. It is the student's responsibility to show me the agenda every day.
My email is: jesselyn.dungo@tdsb.on.ca
I will do my best to respond promptly. Please allow 2 business days to reply to all emails as I am teaching.
I look forward to working with you and your child this school year!
Please do not hesitate to contact me via email or at the school: 416-396-6165.
Un gros merci!

Bonnes Vacances!
Thursday, June 27 is the last day of school. Please remind your children to bring every article of clothing home. There will be a Year-End closing assembly at 1:00 pm on the paved area outside near the portables, weather permitting. Dismissal is at 3:15 pm as usual.
Please be proud of all of our students in Salle 112! They have worked very hard this year and have grown up in so many ways. I strongly encourage you to support them by having them read in French, listen and watch French television and arrange play-dates throughout the summer with fellow French Immersion students if possible to practice their fluency.
Thank you for all of your support throughout this school year. May you all have a great summer!
Take care,
Mme Dungo

And we're back!
For the last two months, our blog will now be active once again.
EQAO NEWS:
There will be a parent information meeting this THURSDAY, MAY 2nd at 6 PM in the gymnasium. Mme Camara and myself will be present to help answer any questions that you may have. We have sent a parent information letter regarding general information about EQAO testing.
Please remember that EQAO testing is a standardized assessment tool used by the province to assess achievement in Mathematics and Language. Grade 3 French Immersion students will only be assessed in Mathematics in French. It is a snapshot of your child's progress from kindergarten to grade 3 in French Immersion and is an individual assessment. Its results are also used by the school to determine patterns in achievement in various strands to inform our teaching best practices moving forward. The EQAO score does not impact your child's progress as reflected on the provincial report card. There are many factors that affect the score of your child that day, including personal anxiety, diet, in addition to his/her cumulative knowledge and understanding. Throughout the year, the children have been taught the Grade 3 Mathematics Curriculum and have been exposed to the format of the EQAO testing format. EQAO testing is only one of a multitude of ways in which we assess our students's progress in addition to daily formative assessment, one-on-one conferencing, differentiated math groups, assignments, quizzes and tests.
We will be writing two one-hour sessions on Monday, May 27 and Tuesday, May 28 in the morning right after the entry bell. Please make sure the children come to school on time, are well-rested and have eaten a good breakfast.
If you have any further questions, please see us at the Parent Night or contact us at the school via email, agenda or telephone.
Enjoy the warmer weather!

Welcome back everyone! I hope that you all enjoyed a restful and fun-filled break. Thank you for your kind words, cards and gifts. I appreciate your support and kindness greatly and look forward to the great year ahead. We are excited and very happy to be back!
Some reminders for the winter season:
1) Please remember to send your children with warm clothing to school:
-hats
-scarves
-mitts/gloves
-snow pants
-WATERPROOF boots
2) In addition, some extra articles of clothing to send along that would be beneficial are:
EXTRA:
-socks
-indoor shoes
-gloves
-pants
...just in case students become wet from playing in the snow! It is rather uncomfortable to be sitting in anything wet for the rest of the day.
Thanks so much and if you need anything at all, know that I'm here to help. You can contact me via: telephone: 416-396-6165 and email: jesselyn.dungo@tdsb.on.ca
Happy New Year!
