For the last two months, our blog will now be active once again.
EQAO NEWS:
There will be a parent information meeting this THURSDAY, MAY 2nd at 6 PM in the gymnasium. Mme Camara and myself will be present to help answer any questions that you may have. We have sent a parent information letter regarding general information about EQAO testing.
Please remember that EQAO testing is a standardized assessment tool used by the province to assess achievement in Mathematics and Language. Grade 3 French Immersion students will only be assessed in Mathematics in French. It is a snapshot of your child's progress from kindergarten to grade 3 in French Immersion and is an individual assessment. Its results are also used by the school to determine patterns in achievement in various strands to inform our teaching best practices moving forward. The EQAO score does not impact your child's progress as reflected on the provincial report card. There are many factors that affect the score of your child that day, including personal anxiety, diet, in addition to his/her cumulative knowledge and understanding. Throughout the year, the children have been taught the Grade 3 Mathematics Curriculum and have been exposed to the format of the EQAO testing format. EQAO testing is only one of a multitude of ways in which we assess our students's progress in addition to daily formative assessment, one-on-one conferencing, differentiated math groups, assignments, quizzes and tests.
We will be writing two one-hour sessions on Monday, May 27 and Tuesday, May 28 in the morning right after the entry bell. Please make sure the children come to school on time, are well-rested and have eaten a good breakfast.
If you have any further questions, please see us at the Parent Night or contact us at the school via email, agenda or telephone.
Enjoy the warmer weather!
