Un gros merci!

Thank you to all parents for coming in last week and this week for parent teacher interviews. Please do not hesitate to let me know if you have ongoing questions and/or concerns by email, telephone or a quick chat after school. Your child's success is in large part due to your involvement. Thank you for your ongoing support!

A word on homework:

New in homework this month: the yellow folder!
The yellow folder is a book log that allows your child to record the books that he/she is reading at home. They are to write:
-the title
-the type of text (narrative, informative or poetry)
-the total number of pages in the book
-the number of pages they read
-the amount of time read (15 min)
-whether they would reccomend the books to fellow students

Looking forward:

Mathematics - we are reviewing how to create multiple graphs using the different formats:
-bar graph
-pictogram

Francais - we are reviewing how to read and write procedural text:
-recipes
-how to's
-direction manuals

Social Studies - we are looking at identifying the various regions of Canada:
-provinces
-territories
-types of terrain: tundra, Canadian shield, boreal/deciduous/coniferous forests, mountain ranges and prairies

Sciences - we are looking at the characteristics of water, particularly:
-buoyancy
-its cycle
-how to clean it using a filtration system
-what happens when it is polluted and its consequences (i.e. oil spills, acid rain)

Hope this helps!
