What a whirlwind September has been! Just a few updates:
Thank you to all of your donations for Terry Fox, if you still have pledge sheets please forward them to the school as soon as possible.
Everyone looked impeccable on our picture day! Look out for the proofs later this month or early next month.
Scholastic is due October 13th for both the September and October Scholastic orders. Those who have handed them in already, the shipments are on their way!
Just a reminder that we now have a RED folder for language homework and a BLACK folder for math homework and classwork. They are always due FRIDAY along with our spelling test. The spelling test will always be the two sentences in the language folder as well as 5-6 words written in their agenda on Monday.
In Mathematics we are ending our Patterning Unit and starting on Number Sense, specifically place value up to the hundreds.
In Science we have started our study on Air and its properties, ask your child about our feather experiment yesterday :)
In Language, we continue to explore what it means to pick out the perfect book, reviewing our reading strategies of an unknown word (re-read, pick out the little word in the big word, using our English, reading before and after a word) as we are honing in on comprehension of text in addition to decoding the sounds.
In Social Studies, we continue to map, map, map! Expose your child to all sorts of maps with legends and symbols. A fun map of their room, their home or their favourite park might be a great activity at home to do to reinforce their use of legends and symbols.
Stay tuned for photos!
Hope this helps,
Mme Dungo
