Our homework for the week is in our dark blue folders. They are due on Friday. We are applying how the verb, "avoir" in present tense can be used in every day language and reviewing our high frequency words: c'est, ses, aprѐs, et, est, mais and mes. Please note: Our dictee test each Friday is marked on a rubric system according to levels. There are 4-5 sentences and the work as a whole is given a level in each of the following categories: spelling of the high frequency words, punctuation, and verb tense.
Science:
We are exploring Matter and Materials. We've been conducting experiments in order to determine the function of different materials and how they're used every day. In our latest experiment we explored the processes of a chemical change. We hypothesized, observed and recorded our results using.... pizza! Yum! Please look at, find and describe every day objects and discuss how the properties of these materials help them achieve their job, i.e. a chair needs a material that is durable and strong to withold weight, thus we use wood.
Book Bags!
On lit! The students have a book bag containing two books: one of their choice, the other at their reading level. Daily practice at home will surely benefit these excited readers. Please see information sheet in our book folder for more details.
Mathematics:
The search for the areas of different objects around the class has begun! We have compared and debated the use of standard and non-standard units of measure as we measure our shoes, markers, computers, desks and even each other! Please review perimetre and area and their differences.
